| Introduction |
¡¡¡¡Shangyu
has a history of more than 2200 years from its establishment
as a county in 222BC. It is the hometown of Dayu, an ancient
famous king in China history. It is also the world famous cradle
of celadon.
¡¡¡¡Shangyu lies in the northeast of Zhejiang Province, it is
62Km from Ningbo to the east, 72 Km from Hangzhou to the west,
it joins Hangzhou Gulf northwards and is opposite to Shanghai
City merely by a river. It has a jurisdiction area of 1427 square
kilometers, 21 towns with a population of 780,000, it belongs
to Yangtz River Econom ic
Delta, and is one of the first coastal opening cities and the
member of Hangjiahu high science and technology zone ratified
by the State Council.
¡¡¡¡Shangyu lies in the north subtropical rim and has a typical
subtropical monsoon climate, it is mild and humid, there the
annual mean air temperature is 17.6,annual mean precipitation
1400mm,frost-free period 251days,suuny time 3000 hours and the
southeast wind and south wind prevailing in summer ,north and
southwest wind in winter.
¡¡¡¡The pillar industries can be divided into three sections as
machinery, chemical and light textile. Shangyu is famous for
its construction force and is the Home Town of construction
named by provincial governme nt
consecutively for many years. At the end of 2004, 659 foreign
¨Cinvested projects have been approved in Shangyu and the total
investment has reached to USD2.078 billion, contracted foreign
investment USD874 million, Utilized foreign investment USD476
million. The great majority of investment is mainly from America,
Hongkong and Taiwan. |
